DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?
Digital SAT FAQs
What is the SAT test?
The SAT test is used to gauge a student’s academic college readiness. Most colleges and universities require the SAT test or other standardized tests as part of the application process to benchmark students. Isn’t that what grades are for, you ask? Yes, however, high school curriculum varies from state to state, and that doesn’t even include independent and parochial schools which are exempt from federal and state standards.
What is the best way to prepare for an SAT?
Peterson’s SAT prep prepares you for the questions you can expect on the SAT test with nine online practice tests, interactive lessons, and flashcards to test your knowledge of math and vocabulary. You can also access our SAT study guide which provides exam details, content featured on the exam, study tips, and how to prepare for the SAT test. With Peterson’s test prep, you’ll have access to everything to help you study and prepare for your SAT test.
How long do you need to prep for SAT?
The SAT is 3 hours long—almost 4 hours if you take the essay section—and has a major impact on college admission decisions. With anything of that magnitude, a little test prep is in order. Plus, higher score reports make you a more competitive applicant for both colleges and scholarships. Do you want to see score improvements? While everyone is different, Peterson’s recommends at least six weeks of preparation for test day, longer if you are looking for a substantial score increase.
Can I prepare for the SAT by myself?
Absolutely! Self-guided SAT prep is an efficient and flexible way to get ready to take the SAT test. Peterson’s has the practice tests, lessons, and flashcards you need to earn your best score on the SAT test.
When should I begin studying for the SAT?
While everyone is different, Peterson’s recommends at least six weeks of SAT prep for test day, longer if you are looking for a substantial score increase.
Does SAT test prep help?
Yes! SAT prep provides test takers with SAT test details, content featured on the exam, study tips, and how to prepare for the SAT test. Practice tests simulate the SAT test, preparing students for what it will be like taking the actual SAT test.
How many times can I take the SAT?
You can take the SAT as many times as you’d like. It’s recommended that students take the SAT test at least twice—once during spring of their junior year and once in the fall of their senior year. Many students receive higher score after taking the SAT test the second time.
What's new in 2023 for the SAT?
The SAT will be going fully digital in 2023 and 2024. International students taking the SAT exam in 2023 will be taking the digital format of the SAT. For students in the United States, the SAT will be fully digital in the beginning of 2024.
The digital format of the SAT will be more accessible for students and give test takers more relevant content on the SAT exam. The digital SAT will be shorter with more direct questions and condensed reading passages.
Another perk of the new 2023 SAT exam will be the ability for students to receive resources to make informed decisions like personalized college and career guidance.
